Why write?
Why write here?
The story goes that when a village is suffering a drought, they call in the rainmaker, who sets up shop and either hides in his hut or goes about his public rituals, either way seeming to command the elements when rain inevitably comes. His secret though--I love his secret--is that he has discovered his true purpose in life: he is a rainmaker. Wherever he goes, it happens to rain. He doesn't make it rain. He is simply attuned to places where it is about to rain. He goes where he feels like going.

I write to go where I feel like going. I write here and now, to make a little space for the rain, for purpose discovering, for trusting that I don't have to make something happen. That I can live and laugh and love and write without taking myself too seriously. That I can do what delights me, share what lights me, follow the good for no reason at all.

Moving my work into the world, writing and mentoring to connect with others, feels like purpose.
And finally it feels like play.
